16 images per machine
Door open or closed, with or without chip conveyor, two angles, two backgrounds.
Colour spot on
Exact paint colours and even the rough texture of the finish.
Size doesn't matter
No studio, no crane, no transport – light and camera can go anywhere.
Every new machine faster
A fixed workflow and a material library ensure the same quality across all models.
WFL Millturn
For more than 30 years, WFL Millturn Technologies from Linz has built turn-mill-drill centres – machines that completely finish complex components in a single setup. In the industry, MILLTURN stands for precision at the highest level.
Every machine is modular and tailored to the customer's manufacturing task. That means a large number of models and variants.
The client
Too big for the photo studio
WFL needed high-quality product images for a wide range of CNC machines. Classic photography quickly hits its limits here: some machines are so large they can hardly be lit or staged – and many variants never stand side by side, finished.
The goal was a solution that turns existing CAD data into photorealistic images – efficiently, repeatably and in the same quality for every model.
The starting point
The solution
01 · From CAD to a lean 3D model
The starting point is WFL's engineering data. We convert it into a format our 3D software can work with and clean up the model: anything that can't be seen from any angle is removed. That makes files smaller and gets images finished much faster.
02 · One material library for every machine
To make all models look consistent, we built a dedicated material library – from rubber to various metals. Paint colours match the real colour values exactly, including the slightly rough finish. Every machine looks as if it had been photographed.
03 · 16 images per variant
Every machine comes in four states: door open or closed, chip conveyor visible or not. Each state is shown from two angles and output once on white and once cut out. That makes 16 images per machine variant – for catalogue, website and trade fair.
04 · One click instead of 48
Instead of setting up each image individually, rendering runs automatically as an animation. Three steps per image become one for all 16. Final retouching then ensures perfect colour accuracy.

The result
WFL has photorealistic product images of its machines – without a photo shoot, without transport and without compromises on lighting or perspective. All models look equally premium, no matter how large they are.
Because workflow and materials are in place, every new machine goes faster. If a variant changes, it is simply re-rendered instead of re-photographed.
For machine builders this means: the best product photos are often created where the machine already exists – in the CAD data.
