Paddlerhaus Steyr GmbH
The Paddlerhaus has stood on the banks of the Enns since the 1920s, right across from Steyr’s old town. Built as a boathouse for a workers’ sports club, it later became home to the kayak and sailing club “Forelle”.
In 2025, six local entrepreneurs took over the listed building from the city and revitalised it. Since 30 June 2026 it has been open again: bar upstairs, event venue downstairs.
The client
A place with history, but no identity
People knew the empty boathouse from walking past, not as a venue. The Paddlerhaus needed its own identity – one that carries the character of the old building and still makes you want to book a wedding, a company party or an evening by the river.
Then there was operations: two uses under one roof, event requests with different time slots, and six owners who all run businesses of their own. Coordinating dates by phone and email would not have scaled.
The starting point
The solution
We supported the Paddlerhaus from brand development to opening – in four building blocks that work together.
01 · A brand born from the building
The logo combines three paddle blades with a narrow, calm wordmark. The green of the shutters became the house colour. The paddle shape returns in the terrace railing, and the logo carries through to the furnishings.
The branding doesn’t feel applied on top – it feels like part of the building.

02 · Online before the doors open
The website went live during the revitalisation. Visitors could follow construction progress and register interest in dates – before there was a room to see.
Today paddlerhaus.at leads clearly to the two sides of the house: weddings & events, the bar, and the story of the boathouse.

03 · A booking system instead of phone tag
At the heart of it is a custom booking system. A calendar shows which days are free or reserved. Guests choose a wedding, company event or private party – and the system knows the rules behind it: weddings run over the weekend, other events from noon to the following day.
Requests arrive complete, including guest count and company details. That saves the owners a lot of follow-up questions and spares guests the wait.

04 · Print from the same mould
The print design carries the same signature: colours, paddle motif and typography run from the website onto paper. Online and on site, the house tells one story.

The result
The Paddlerhaus opened on 30 June 2026. About two months later, the owners drew a positive first balance: high footfall from day one, many weddings, birthdays and company parties – and a well-filled calendar.
Regional media followed the project from revitalisation to its first season: MeinBezirk, Tips, City of Steyr and the summer review in MeinBezirk.
Our takeaway: a special venue needs more than beautiful photos. When brand, website and booking work together, a place with history becomes a place you can simply book.
