Techday

Techday Recap - June

Once a month, we dedicate a day to further training and the exploration of new, innovative tools & programs. This allows our team members to acquire new knowledge that personally benefits them and strengthens skills, but also proves useful and applicable in future projects.

Once again this month, we held a Tech Day where our team members were able to train in various areas and familiarise themselves with specific topics, functions or tools.

Interfaces in Unreal Engine 5

Anja focused on two related topics: A nested interface system and the runtime-changeable media playback in Unreal Engine 5.

Nested menus in Unreal Engine 5 enable a clear and structured design of complex user interfaces. Using Widget Blueprints, multiple menu levels can be created that are seamlessly interconnected – ideal for main menus, settings, or inventories.

The interactive media playback in Unreal Engine 5 allows controlling and integrating videos, audios, and interactive content in real-time. With the Media Framework, dynamic applications such as virtual tours, interactive kiosks, or cutscenes can be implemented, where users are actively involved.

Midjourney

Kristian focused on the application of Midjourney this time. He gathered knowledge about the targeted use of AI image generation as well as the structure and impact of effective prompts.

A central aspect was the question of when the use of Midjourney is particularly worthwhile. For example, the tool is excellent for visualizing concept ideas, product designs, or designing creative visuals that would otherwise take a long time to create in Photoshop.

Another focus was on building good prompts. The following elements play an important role:

  • Angle: e.g. eyelevel shot, droneshot, low angle, to create a specific perspective

  • Medium: Photo, Illustration, Oil painting, 3D Render, depending on the desired style

  • Object and Attributes: Which person, scene, or object should be depicted? What characteristics should the image convey?

  • Setting: Time of day, mood, environment, or cultural influences

  • Parameters: e.g. Aspect Ratio (--ar), Style variations, Level of detail, or Version numbers (--v)

Furthermore, he dealt with the advanced features of Midjourney, such as upscaling, remix modes, or the ability to use existing images as a starting point for new creations.

Techdays are not only great for personal development and knowledge acquisition, but also strengthen our team and help to expand our company's skills and range of services. As our customer, you also benefit when we help you realise your full potential. Ready?
